Tanks

Under the Tank project, Manthan has constructed 176 tanks since 2010. These tanks are fresh water storage units that are refilled by tanker suppliers in the area. The tanks have been constructed in 28 villages benefitting around 18 vulnerable communities in the area.
The main objectives of the tank project is to ensure accessible fresh and safe drinking water, reduce daily drudgery especially women and girls and enable water to be a shared family responsibility, reduce the time used to collect water and enable families to do more productive work while girls can go to school, enable families to keep cattle as a source of income, to bring about health and cleanliness in the family, to reduce community conflicts for water resources and to bring about respect and dignity in social circles due as the tank becomes a new asset in the community.
